Cockermouth

On a visit to the Lake District in England to visit family a few years ago, I was struck by the atmosphere of this typical northern town. It was the middle of the day and although there were plenty of cars either side of the road, it seemed so quiet and deserted that it was as if the lady on the left was the only person that lived there.

The soft light and the pastel-coloured houses lent the air a poignancy that reminded me of my teenage years growing up in a market town in South Wales.

I stood in the middle of the road to take multiple photos so that I could recreated the scene in my studio.
