There are many interesting rock formations along the coast of the Algarve, one of which are the caves at Benagil. The beach itself is accessible only by boat but the vast open chimney of the cave can be reached by foot. There, from an unnerving height, you can look down on the beach far below. I painted this in my studio from a variety of photographs I took from the vantage point above.
