I painted this cityscape study on the 15th floor of a hotel just a few days after the worst storm to hit the UAE in decades. Much of the region was flooded and widespread damage was reported with Dubai airport and many roads underwater. Luckily we escaped any harm but I’d have dearly loved to paint those purple skies; instead I had to content myself with the sunshine after the storm.
