The Card Cheat

I love the island of Madeira and have visited many times. On one such visit I stood and watched the men playing something called 'Portuguese Casino’ in the park near the cable car. As I’ve already mentioned, I love people watching and am fascinated by body language, so I took several photos in order to recreate the scene back in my studio.

It wasn’t until I got home and was sorting through my images that I realised I’d managed to capture one guy looking at his neighbours cards, so I simply had to paint that into my piece!
