Lisbon Old Town

The old town in Lisbon is so special. It’s very different from the newer parts which many of us know well as it’s close to the airport! Older Lisbon has the narrow streets, the beautiful old houses and, of course, the trolley cars.

I painted this one after a recent trip there and was captivated by the graffiti on this car and the dangling arms of the driver out of the window. It was quite a complicated composition with the sharp lines of the distance perspective - an aspect of landscape painting that I particularly love as you can see in my other work.
